Thrall quarterback Nick Salazar threw for 125 yards and teammate Richie Reed caught six aerials for 199 yards as the Tigers defeated Harper, 61-28, in Region IV 2A football bi-district action Thursday night at Marble Falls High School Stadium in Marble Falls.
Harper finished the 2016 campaign with an overall 9-2 record and 3-2 in the district standings, good enough for the District 14-2A DI number three seed in the playoffs.
Three other league schools participated in last weekend’s regional playoff action, with the following results — No. 1 seeded Mason toppled Moody, 49-7; No. 2 seeded Junction outlasted Thorndale by a score of 46-20, and No. 4 Brackett lost to Normangee, 42-25.
Mason faces Shiner in this weekend’s area round; however, details on the day, date and time have not been worked out. Meanwhile, Junction takes on Refugio, ranked second in last week’s Associated Press Class 2A high school football poll, at 7 p.m. on Friday in La Vernia.
