The Symphony of the Hills’ Homecoming concert, originally scheduled in February, has been rescheduled for Aug. 26, in Kerrville.
Homecoming features the return of former Symphony of the Hills violinist and soloist, Nancy Zhou, who has gone on to become a multi-awardwinning concert artist with an international career.
“While conditions may have required a postponement, we weren’t about cancel this concert,” said Dr. Tim Summerlin, board president. “Nancy Zhou has shared her artistry with the Hill Country in the past, and she is returning this August to bring us more joy.”
Zhou will perform Barber’s Violin Concerto. The music program will also feature William Grant Still’s Poem for orchestra, followed by Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, which was performed during the Symphony’s first season 20 years ago.
In order to comply with mitigation guidelines, the Symphony has been reducing the size of audiences by offering two shortened performances per evening. Pending the situation in August regarding seating arrangements and concert venue, ticket sales for the Homecoming concert will be announced at a later date.
All tickets already purchased for the February concerts will be honored at the August concert.
Dr. Eugene Dowdy is the conductor and artistic director.
The Symphony will wrap up its regular season schedule on April 29 with The Majesty of Brahms.
