Faith Baptist Church began an 11-part video series titled “Must the Sun Set on the West?: An Indian Explores the Soul of Western Civilization,” by Dr. Vishal Mangalwadi on Monday and will continue the series for the next 10 weeks.
Mangalwadi was born and raised in India where he studied philosophy in secular universities and Hindu ashrams.
After studying in Swiss L’Abri for six months, he returned to India to serve the rural poor through several creative projects. This frontline engagement with oppression and corruption sent him to jail, helped prevent the revival of widow-burning, and led to politically organizing peasants and lower-caste “untouchables.”
“Mangalwadi has become the new eyes to the West. Like de Tocqueville, Mangalwadi deeply understands the importance of biblical truths found in the Bible as it applies to the West,” the Rev. Jamey Day said.
“In this 11-part video series, Mangalwadi will explore 11 aspects of Biblical values that lifted humanity from chronic poverty and corruption when adopted by the west, and why the West is now in decline due to the abandoning of the Bible as it’s source of truth and morality,” Day added.
Each lecture proposes solutions to each aspect of decline so that, if embraced, the west can once again flourish, Day said.
The series continues on Monday nights at 7 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 3022 Texas 16 North.
Admission is free and open to all. For more information call 830-997-9836.
“We are trying to reach Christians and non-Christians who are concerned about the moral and ethical decline of the United States and are looking for hope in the midst of all the chaos which surrounds us,” Day said.
