The Cherry Spring Community Club is part of the Friends of Gillespie County Country Schools, which has as its mission the preservation of the old country schools. All the schools are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Histories of the schools in the organization, driving directions and map, information on renting the schoolhouses for events, and opportunities for participating in the organization can be found on the FOGCCS website, www.historicschools.org.
In the late 1800s there were over 40 country schools in Gillespie County.
