Good job to the Harper High School athletes! The volleyball and football teams won last week!
This week is Homecoming and the game is against Menard at 7:30 p.m. There are lots of fun things going on for the students all week.
Frontier Days is happening! You can buy your tickets online to save time. Team roping will be Friday night. Family events start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, along including Kid Fish, dominos, washers, live music, barbecue, rodeo and dance. The museum will also be open. There will not be a parade this year.
On Oct. 1, the remake of the rodeo arena will start. A new covered arena is to be built where the present arena stands and the park is looking for help to take it apart.
The Harper Park board is asking anyone who has interest in removing the current metal arena, announcer stand, and bleacher cover in exchange for the material to contact the Harper Park Board by Oct.1. All metal piping must be removed from the grounds, and all concrete may be piled in one location for later removal. Removal must be completed no later than Nov. 1.
Items to be retained by the park board are lighting fixtures, electric wiring, roping chute, striping chute, elevated stock loading chute, water troughs, and all bleachers. For more information, email info@harpercommunitypark.org.
