The Fredericksburg High School Battlin’ Billies powerlifting teams sent two Lady Billies to the 4A Big School Girls’ State Championships in Corpus Christi on Saturday, March 19.
Sarah Easley and Jozlynn Medley both competed at the event, with Easley finishing in the top 10 in her weight class.
Medley bowed out during the bench but lifted 130 pounds in the squat.
Easley finished 10th in the state in the 148-pound weight class division. She lifted 755 total pounds (285 squat, 140 bench, 330 deadlift).
Angelica Beltran of Beeville Jones won the weight class with a total of 935 pounds.
Port Lavaca Calhoun won the state team title with a total of 39 points. Springtown finished second and Gainesville, third.
The Billies will send John Parra to the 4A Big School Boys’ State Championship in Abilene on Saturday, March 26. Parra took first in the Region IV Meet last week and will compete in the 165-pound weight class.
