The Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office arrested a hit-and-run driver and six people on 15 counts of possession of drugs last week.
Deputies investigating a accident on Thursday, May 25 at 2:03 a.m. searched for a person suspectd of a hit-and-run accident on U.S. 290 East. A complainant told officers the accident happened near the intersection of U.S. 290 East and Upper Albert Road. Officers saw marks on the front right tire and fender of the complainant’s vehicle, consistent with another vehicle, striking it after drifting into their lane.
The complainant said the other vehicle took off at a high rate of speed and deputies located a vehicle with damage to the left rear on the 10600 block of U.S. 290 East. The damage was consistent with damage to the complainant’s vehicle, according to law reports. Deputies spoke with the driver, who denied hitting any other vehicles. The suspect’s explanation of damage to the vehicle was inconsistent and the suspect admitted to passing the complainant’s vehicle and feeling a bump but didn’t think anything of it. Kevin Bernard Cartwright Willis, 26, of San Diego, California, was arrested for accident involving damage to vehicle.
Drugs
Deputies attempting to locate a person with two felony warrants out of Bexar county located two men on a property on the 4800 block of Morris Ranch Road, Monday, May 22 at 1:48 p.m. When they arrived on scene, they spotted the suspect and another man attempting to destroy a marijuana pipe. Hilario Neri Sosa, 35, of Fredericksburg, was arrested on two warrants for manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and Fabian Herrera Garcia, 26, of Fredericksburg, was arrested on two counts of possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine and cocaine and tampering with physical evidence with intent to impair.
On Tuesday, May 22 at 9:31 p.m., a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a window tint violation near the intersection of U.S. 290 East and Old San Antonio Road. After making contact with the male driver, the deputies observed a glass smoking pipe in the cup holder, which the driver tried to conceal, and an open container of alcohol in the front passenger seat. A deputy conducted a probable cause search of the driver and found two bags with methamphetamine and cocaine in a cigarette package. Federico Neri, 44, of Harper, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for meth and coke.
Deputies arrested two people on Thursday, May 25 on eight counts of possession of drugs, delivery of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm by felon.
At 1:20 p.m., deputies investigated a drug transaction at an apartment on the 1000 block of Friendship Lane. One man exited a vehicle and sat on a chair in front of an apartment. Deputies observed the man dropping a backpack he had been carrying and a loaded .380 handgun. Inside the backpack, deputies found a clear bag containing methamphetamine, multiple bags with marijuana, two bags of fentanyl pills, a bag of ecstasy/ MDMA and a digital scale. Deputies also searched inside the vehicle and found two packages: one of brown heroin and the other of black tar heroin, as well as a Glock box that matched the serial number of the discarded handgun. Justin Wayne Lage, 32, of Cibolo, and the driver, Franklyn O’Neill Howard, 42, o f S an A ntonio, w ere both arrested and each charged with four counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and delivery of marijuana. Lage was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by felon.
On Saturday, May 27, at 10:15 p.m., a deputy conducting a moving violation traffic stop on the 16100 block of U.S. 290 East, detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, and the d eputy f ound T HC gummies and a THC vape cartridge. Lance Thomas Parker, 45, of Kerrville was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Other
After initiating a traffic stop at 11:03 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 on a vehicle for an equipment violation near the intersection of U.S. 87 South and Los Cedros Trail, a deputy learned the driver did not possess a valid driver’s license. Bibiana Neri Solorzano, 37, of Fredericksburg, was taken into custody and charged with no driver’s license and resist arrest search or transport.
Deputies assisted the Fredericksburg Police Department on a disturbance call on the 1300 block of East Main Street Saturday, May 27 at 10:52 p.m. by locating a vehicle as it pulled into a parking lot in the 500 block of East Main Street. The driver, Jose Eduardo Posas, 35, of Giddings, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
While patrolling on Sunday, May 28 at 10:16 a.m., a deputy noticed a suspicious vehicle parked under the Pedernales River Bridge on U.S. 87 South. After making contact with a man and woman, a deputy learned the woman had outstanding warrants. Paula Marsolete Hastings, 46, of Fredericksburg, was arrested on the warrants of bail jumping – fail to appear and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 11:13 p.m. Sunday, May 28, deputies were called to a residence on Chaparral Drive regarding a physical disturbance. When deputies arrived, they arrested the primary aggressor, Samantha Marie Pacheco, 34, of Fredericksburg, who was charged with assault causes bodily injury (family violence).
Inmate transports
Seven deputies left the county to transport 10 inmates to and from Gillespie County Jail last week.
A t 6 :26 a .m. T uesday, May 23, two detention officers left the county to transport a male inmate to the Estelle Unit in Huntsville and on the return trip, they picked up Philip Giglio, 66, of Austin, and brought him to the Gillespie County Jail.
At 5:55 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, two detention officers transported two women from the county jail to the Plane State Jail facility in Dayton.
At 1:16 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, a detention officer took a woman to the Gillespie County Courthouse for court and then back to the jail.
At 3:53 p.m. Friday, May 26, two detention officers transported five inmates to the Travis County Correctional Complex in Del Valle.
Detention officers met two people with warrants in the jail lobby for arrests. At 6:03 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, Kristopher Hernandez, 19, of Fredericksburg, was arrested on a possession of marijuana warrant and jailed.
At 5:45 a.m. Thursday, May 25, Austin Lee Schneider, 21, of Fredericksburg, was arrested on warrants for theft cattle/ horse/exotic livestock and theft of property and escorted to jail.
Weekly Totals
Deputies handled a total of 619 calls and made 203 traffic stops during the week. A total of 26 people were booked into jail. The jail population is 68 as of Monday. Deputies worked three crashes, one minor and two major.
