It’s hot, but there’s fun to be had at the Fair
The Gillespie County Fair Association wants you! Additional volunteers are needed for this weekend’s big event. Volunteers will work three-hour shifts taking tickets, serving beer, selling souvenirs or making change. Register as a volunteer for slots from 6 p.m. Thursday through 6 p.m. Sunday. It’s hot, but there’s fun to be had at the Fair

The weather has been insufferable lately, but a Texas tradition is calling and everyone reading this needs to support an event that has helped define Gillespie County and entertained millions of people through its history.

The 135th Gillespie County Fair, the oldest continuously running county fair in Texas, will kick off Thursday. The event stretches back to 1881 when it was held in the area of Fort Martin Scott. The grounds there were used as the first horse track.
