Fredericksburg’s Easter Fires Pageant will be presented Saturday evening at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds. “Easter Fires” will flare from five of the hills surrounding Fredericksburg, where they will burn for the 128th year in an age-old tradition. Their story will be told in a pageant with over 600 participants.
The Gillespie County Historical Society is sponsoring tours of several of Fredericksburg’s old homes and buildings Saturday afternoon.
The Lutheran Youth Council of Fredericksburg is sponsoring an Easter Sunrise Service Sunday morning at 7:15 a.m. at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park.
The Fredericksburg Music Study Club is sponsoring the Fredericksburg Arts Festival Saturday and Sunday at Milam Hall.
Fifty Texas craftsmen are expected to have booths at the Folk Crafts Festival to be held Saturday and Sunday at the Admiral Nimitz Center.
Fredericksburg voters returned Mayor Sidney Henke and City Commissioners Ewald Geistweidt and Patrick (Pat) Pyka to office in a light Saturday election that saw only 361 votes cast.
Harry Wahrmund, 63, Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 132 in Doss, civic worker and Doss News correspondent for the Standard for 46 years, died Sunday, April 7.

One girl and two boys were born at Hill Country Memorial Hospital during the past week. A girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Sauer, April 6, while boys were born to Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Jung, and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Friedrich of Brownwood, both on April 8.

Eilers Milk is now being sold in stores across the Hill Country. The dairy is releasing 300 heliumfilled balloons containing coupons for half gallons of milk, from the Courthouse Square this afternoon.
Scout Troop 135, sponsored by Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, spent last weekend camping out at the YO Ranch near Mountain Home where they worked on their Fish and Wildlife merit badges.
