Fredericksburg High School members of the 2024 iOpener class, sponsored by the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce, held a day camp for area youth at the Boys and Girls Club of Fredericksburg on Saturday, April 20. Twenty-five students in grades 1-5 from the Fredericksburg Independent School District, St. Mary’s School and Ambleside School of Fredericksburg participated in activities such as making slime molds, playing yard games, painting and coloring, musical chairs, making their own trail mix snacks, according Boys and Girls Club Director Ani Artero. The event was sponsored by Create Healthy. “There’s plenty of things for adult tourists to do,” said Dede Threadgill of the Fredericksburg Chamber and co-moderator of the 2024 iOpener class. The iOpener class decided to conduct the youth day camp in order to create something fun and healthy for young people to do, said Sarah Washburne, board member of the chamber and co-moderator, along with Threadgill, of the iOpener class. – Standard-Post/A.
