Poppyseed dressing is a sweet and sour, vinaigrette- style dressing popularized in the 1950s by cookbook author Helen Corbitt. As a young Irish Catholic New Yorker, she moved to Texas and taught catering and restaurant management in Houston and Austin. Her career spanned nearly 40 years.
