Hash: A dish best served with leftovers
We always had leftovers at our house because food was never thrown away. Both my parents lived through the Great Depression and experienced hardships. By 1910, my mom was helping her mom, a mother of 9, with meals for her boarding house tenants. That year my dad was invited by a visiting aging great uncle who had lived the American Dream, to come to Texas from Germany to work in one of his flour and grain mills.
