TREE TRADITION
Dennis Smith, park superintendent at the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site, celebrates the annual lighting of the Christmas tree with children who attended on Sunday, Dec. 15. The tree lighting was begun by President Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson on Dec. 23, 1970. Santa Claus made an entrance with children cheering their “celebrity sighting” at the 55th Annual LBJ Tree Lighting Ceremony. Santa visited with children, and a few adults, about Christmas wishes. Santa was “assisted” by Bob Hohmann. — Standard-Radio Post/Ken Esten Cooke
