The Fredericksburg Police Department responded to 289 calls for service and made 204 traffic stops and eight arrests between Monday, Dec. 30 and Sunday, Jan. 5.
Arrest
On Monday, Dec. 30, a patrol officer went to the 200 block of West Centre Street to serve a warrant. The patrol officer made contact with and arrested the female subject. Traci Loren Dodds, 37, from Fredericksburg was arrested for burglary of habitation.
On Tuesday, Dec. 31, an officer was on patrol in the 1700 block of North Llano Street when they were approached by a complainant regarding a male subject dragging a box in the road near South Milam and West Creek streets and then stopping and sitting on it. The officer located the male, and smelled alcohol. The subject was also slurring his speech. A field sobriety test was administered, and he was determined to be intoxicated. Miguel Garel Ponce-Zea, 43, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for public intoxication.
On Wednesday, Jan. 1, an officer was on patrol in the 200 block of West Main Street when they observed a traffic violation. A traffic stop was conducted in the 400 block of West Main Street. Contact was made with the male driver, who opened his door because the window was not working. An odor of alcohol could be detected and the male admitted to consuming alchol. Field sobriety tests were administered and the male was determined to be intoxicated. Jorge Luis Garcia Mendez, 32, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content above 0.15. On Wednesday, Jan. 1, a sergeant was on patrol when they were dispatched to the 500 block of West Main Street to assist with a traffic stop. The sergeant made contact with the male driver. An odor of alcohol was detected and the male had slurred speech. Field sobriety tests were administed and he was determined to be intoxicated. Wilson Gabriel Santos Padilla, 32, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a open alcohol container. After being arrested, the subject was determined to be in possession of cocaine and was charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair.
On Thursday, Jan. 2, a Gillespie County Sheriff’s deputy requested assistance for an additional officer in regard to a vehicle driving erratically westbound on U.S. 290 East. An officer was enroute and located the vehicle in a parking lot on Friendship Lane. A probably cause search was conducted. Darla Ann Gellenbeck, 40, of Kerrville, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
On Saturday, Jan. 4, an officer was on patrol near the 300 block of West Main Street when they observed a traffic violation. A stop was conducted and contact was made with a male driver. An odor of alcohol was detected, and the officer asked if the driver had been drinking. The driver admitted to drinking, and a field sobriety test was administed. Due to poor testing, more sobriety tests were administered. Jordan Beck McNamara, 25, of Austin, was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
On Sunday, Jan. 5, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Lincoln Street and observed a female subject lying on the ground. The officer approached the subject and smelled alcohol. The female was also unsteady on her feet. The female admitted to consuming alcohol and stated that she was intoxicated. Danielle Renee McCants, 28, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for public intoxication.
On Sunday, Jan. 5, an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of South Adams Street for a traffic accident. The officer arrived on scene and contact was made with a complainant and the male driver that was involved in the accident. While speaking with the male driver, a strong odor of alcohol could be detected and his speech was slureed. The male subject admitted to consuming alcohol. A field sobriety test was conducted. After the first test, the male declined to continue with testing. Esteban Estrada Perez, 50, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, second.
Burglary
On Sunday, Jan. 5, an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Cristol Drive for a possible burglary of a residence. The complainant advised the officer that they were house-sitting for a friend and when they showed up, they noticed the back screen door had damage. Another complainant showed up and advised that the door occasionaly swings open and hits the back stairs. The officer cleared the residence and nothing appeared out of place. The officer contacted the homeowner and left a voice message. No further action was needed.
Fraud
On Monday, Dec. 30, an officer spoke with a complainant in regard to fraud. The complainant told the officer someone opened a credit card in their name. The complainant turned over the information they had and advised they would contact the officer with more information. No further information at this time.
On Sunday, Jan. 5, an officer spoke with a complainant regarding fraud. The complainant told the officer their computer had been hacked. The report is still under investigation at this time.
Theft
On Tuesday, Dec. 31, an officer spoke with a complainant in regard to a theft. The complainant told the officer that while they were parked in front of the airport, an iPad was taken from the vehicle. The windows were left down and they did not realize it was missing until they returned home. A case number was provided to the complainant and the case was forward to the Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation.
On Wednesday, Jan. 1, an officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of East Main Street for a reported theft. The complainant told the office er they had a metal sculpture taken from their patio. The sculpture is valued at $3,000. The report will be forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation and to identify a possible suspect from cameras in the area.
