Heritage Eagles sweep Heritage Holiday Classic Tournament

The Heritage Eagles varsity boys’ basketball team took first place at the Heritage Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament last week.

“The boys did a great job and are starting to find their rhythm,” Head Coach Clarence Stewart said. “We went 4-0 this tournament, winning the championship against a tough opponent in Bracken Christian, out of Bulverde.”

Heritage defeated Bulverde Bracken, 74-60, in the championship game with William Warner leading the way in scoring with 25 points.

Quatro Stewart added 25 points for the Eagles.

The Eagles made it to the championship game after defeating Knippa, 8150; Fredericksburg High School junior varsity, 7850; and Kerrville Tivy junior varsity, 67-54.

“This was just what we needed after a long football season,” Clarence Stewart said. “The boys, offensively, have really improved this weekend.”

William Warner and Bridger Hardin were named tournament Most Valuable Players.

Warner scored 39 points in the win over Knippa.

After the tournament, the Eagles defeated Legacy Christian, 79-36, last Friday.

“Tonight, we came out defensively and put a lot of pressure on Legacy,” Clarence Stewart said. “Will Warner has been a nightmare for opposing defenses. We still have a lot of ground to cover and still learning our offense sets but I’m happy to be where we are, sitting at 9-1 and 3-0 in district play.”
